Bernt Hugenholtz, the director of the Institute for Information Law (IViR) (University of Amsterdam) was asked by the EC to give his advise about the proposal for a term extension of the rights of performing artists and phonogram producers from 50 to 95 years. Now, in its report, "Explanatory Memorandum", the EC fails to mention the 2 studies by Hugenholtz's team. So the latter concludes in an open letter that the EC pays more attention to the lobbyists from the record companies, than to the studies by experts in law and economy.
